A Lovely Touch of Reality Awards

Life has been hectic since fall began and school has started.  There are many nights when I just do not have the time or the energy to write a blog post. I think many of us “postaday” bloggers are finding it difficult to meet the goal.  Therefore, it is heartwarming to me to find that even when I am not on target, I still have people who will read my musings and even take the time to nominate me for an award.

Cher over at Authentic Photography has graciously nominated Grandmother Musings for the REALITY BLOG AWARD and the LOVELY BLOG AWARD.  Cher is originally from Maine, but has recently moved to Lakeland, Florida with her husband.  Her photos are real and reflect her keen insight into everyday life.  Please go and visit Authentic Photography. You will enjoy her unique photo expressions.

These are five questions that Cindy passed on for the Reality Blog Award and that I have decided to answer for both awards:

1) If you could change something, what would you change?

I would change all the hatred in the world for other cultures and races.

2) If you could repeat an age, what age would it be?

I would repeat at 30.  I would tell my scared self that I am powerful and worthy of great things.

3) What one thing really scares you?

Losing someone, I love.

4) What one dream have you not completed yet and do you think you will be able to complete it.

One dream I have always had is to own a house on a lake.  I think it will eventually happen.

5) If you could be someone else for the day, who would you be?

I think it would be interesting to be the President or someone else in a high seat of power.  I have a feeling it is a lot more difficult to be in that position than I imagine.

I am nominating 10 wonderful blogs that have inspired me in some way. Please take the time to visit these sites and see what makes them so great.

There are no specific rules to these awards.  Each nominee is free to accept and do what he or she will with his or her award. It is my sincere hope that with this nomination each blog will know how much I appreciate and respect their work.  This nomination is for both the Reality Award and the One Lovely Blog award.

The Liebster Award

I owe Terry1954 a great big hug for nominating Grandmother Musings for the Liebster Blog Award. When I first began blogging, I would read other blogger’s posts and wonder at all the awards posted. I wondered if I would ever receive an award.  In the spring, Terry1954 sent me a note saying that she had nominated me for the Sisterhood Award.  I was so excited that I called my husband at work to let him know that I had won an award.  Since then, I have been honored with several awards, and I owe it all to Terry for starting the blessings.

Please visit Terry at her blog.  She is a loving and beautiful woman who shares the highs and lows of life with her readers.  She affectionately cares for her brother, Al, with Parkinson’s disease. Terry also writes wonderful poems and stories to warm your heart. She is a very talented writer and blogger for whom you will want to follow.

The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. What is a Liebster? The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

So what do we have to do to show our appreciation?

  1. Answer the questions that the tagger set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.
  2. Choose 11 bloggers and link them in your post.
  3. Go to their page and tell them.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go, and why?

I would like to go to the Bahamas or some island paradise. I want to feel the warmth of the white sands in my toes, smell the ocean and the tropical flowers, and just relax.

What was your reason for starting a blog on WordPress?

My reason for starting a blog was to write. I have always been a writer, but was not practicing the craft. My blog gives me a place and a reason to write every day.

What is your most frequently visited blog and why?

20 lines or less is a blog I frequent often. I love to see what new challenges are posted.

Did you look at Freshly Pressed today? If so, which featured blog post did you like the most?

A newbie’s thoughts on the ‘like’ button by http://thoughtsofalunatic.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/a-newbies-thoughts-on-the-like-button/comment-page-2/#comment-364

What most inspires you?

Every day adventures in life.

What type of atmosphere most inspires you to write/take photos/illustrate/whatever it is that you like to do?

I like quiet when I write. Sitting at the kitchen table late at night when everyone else is sleeping, quiet.

If you could be any celebrity for a day, who would you be?

Tina Fey- Maybe I could then get some great comedy tips.

Favorite movie quote?

“Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” Clarence Oddbody  “It’s A Wonderful Life”

What is something that you would like to see people post more about?

Alternative News

Favorite Starbucks drink?

I am not fond of Starbucks. ( I know…I am crazy! )  If I have to get something at Starbucks it is just a regular lite roast.

If you were a word, what word would you be?

Determined

Tranquil Evenings

Posted on

Peaceful moments are often hard to find in this crazy world.  When an opportunity presents itself to relax, I think it is smart to grab it and hold on to it tightly.  Consequently, this evening I have been given the gift of a respite from a normally hectic life.  Instead of going out with my husband to a baseball game, I have the honor of staying home by myself.

I made some coffee to perk me up, and for dinner, I just put some chicken tenders in the oven. No mess, no fuss, no husband! I know that sounds harsh, however, sometimes it is so peaceful just to be alone.  Do not get me wrong.  I enjoy spending time with my husband, but every once in a while, it is nice to have a few quiet hours of tranquility.  A night where the TV is silent and I can read my book without being asked questions in the middle of a good chapter.  Ahhh… What a pleasant way to end a very chaotic week.

What gives you peace?  Share a thought or two with us….

“SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD”

Posted on

I am honored to accept this award. I would like to thank my blogging friend, Francine from http://francineinretirement.wordpress.com/ for nominating my site for the “SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD”.  Please visit her blog for thought-provoking photos and read her insightful thoughts.   Francine always has a kind word and positive message.

Now, I must tell you seven things about myself that you do not know.  Ooh, this is the tough part.

  1.  I have recently acquired a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.   I could technically apply to schools to become a vice-principal or principal; however, I have decided to give writing a try to keep my teaching position.
  2. My son is getting married in October to a wonderful young woman. Wedding preparation is on my agenda until the big day. It is so exciting!
  3. I consider my daughter one of my closest confidants.
  4. Karaoke is my friend.  I love to sing, but only the lead.  I am terrible at harmonizing.
  5. I was born on Halloween, and I will NEVER stop Trick or Treating.
  6. I am easily bored, so I always have something to do to keep myself busy.
  7. I live in the same house I grew up in, and I love it.

As this is the “SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD”, I would like to nominate the following sisters for the award. Thank you to all of the followers and friends who visit and comment on my Musings.  I greatly appreciate your generosity and love.   Please pick-up your award here and let me know when you receive it.  Oh, Happy Day!  Blessings to all.
