A Rondel : A Wedding of Two Souls

Taken by: Mila Zinkova (original source)

On an autumn morning, with bright-colored cheeks,

She walks down the aisle of her life.

Her future stands at his side as his wife.

The circle of life begins as the priest speaks.

As her veil  lifted by hands that she knows,

The familiar flutter in her heart beats fast.

The gentle blue eyes of her husband slows,

As words of enduring love is asked.

Joyful music of celebration swirls around.

The dance of binding sways.

Molding two into one in a blaze.

The couple begins their life together bound.

Until their death and they are in the ground.

20 Lines or Less posted the challenge of writing a Rondel Poem, and I thought I would give it a try.  I used the theme of a wedding because that is what is currently on my mind. My son is getting married in October and the wedding preparations are being made as I write.  Only a few more weeks to go and there will be a wedding of two souls.

Rondel

A French form consisting of 13 lines: two quatrains and a quintet, rhyming as follows:

ABba abAB abbaA. The capital letters are the refrains, or repeats.

The Way (Open Book Challenge)

Posted on

We are all on an individual journey. We are looking for truth and overturning all stones in an effort to find those methods that will help us discover, THE WAY.

Each one of us has a unique idea of the path and how it is to be followed. Some take to religion, some to science, and some combine all the information into a form of belief. We look for signposts and guides to lead us into a direction. Often we feel we have taken the wrong road or walked down an over trodden path. Frustration that we need to retrace our steps is often felt, and for a moment, makes us sad for the time we have wasted.

However, is it really wasted time? Maybe, there was something missed on the first pass through. Some lesson that was not evident or forgotten. What if we are where we are meant to be, ALWAYS? Could it be that there are no mistakes? It just is what it is.  Hmmm….something to muse about today.

Weekend Plans to Make You Smile

Posted on

It it a big weekend on the comedy stage.

Laughter and hilarity are the costumes they wear.

Audience participation is how they will gauge.

As the Improv ensues- Come out if you dare!

There will be games and music for all to enjoy.

Vendors, carts, and stands full of food.

A karaoke band to help sing out your joy.

On a hot, summer night, this will lighten the mood.

This is a carnival of medium proportion

With jesters and quartets of some fame.

No cover charge or any such notion

Spend your dollars on goodies and games.

A once a year kind of deal.

Bring the whole family to see.

It does not matter how low you feel

For the good times will make you happy.

There once was a dog from Brazil

Who came from a puppy mill

He tried to look cute

and less like a brute

A matter that bothers him still.
