Peaceful moments are often hard to find in this crazy world. When an opportunity presents itself to relax, I think it is smart to grab it and hold on to it tightly. Consequently, this evening I have been given the gift of a respite from a normally hectic life. Instead of going out with my husband to a baseball game, I have the honor of staying home by myself.
I made some coffee to perk me up, and for dinner, I just put some chicken tenders in the oven. No mess, no fuss, no husband! I know that sounds harsh, however, sometimes it is so peaceful just to be alone. Do not get me wrong. I enjoy spending time with my husband, but every once in a while, it is nice to have a few quiet hours of tranquility. A night where the TV is silent and I can read my book without being asked questions in the middle of a good chapter. Ahhh… What a pleasant way to end a very chaotic week.
What gives you peace? Share a thought or two with us….
What good is living life if you don't share all the experiences, mistakes, and knowledge you have gained? I am a grandmother, a wife, a mother of two grown children, a Jr. High Teacher for almost two decades, an elementary principal and I want to share my experiences.
You named it, Jamie: time to myself! I love a good book, time to write, time to walk or think or garden or pray. A beautiful view enhances the experience. And coffee in the morning, wine at night. I’ve never been bored for a minute of my life–I think because I enjoy those solitary times so much!
So, what are you reading?
I am reading “The American Way of Eating…Undercover at Walmart, Applebee’s, Farm Fields, and the Dinner Table” by Tracie McMillan. It is all about a journalist who goes undercover as a worker to see what it takes to eat in America. Right now she is working at Walmart. It is an interesting book about the corporate food chain. It opened my eyes to how produce like grapes and peaches get to the table.
I would really like to be reading the second book in “The Hunger Games” series, but, I have to return this book to the library first. LOL! Enjoy the evening. 🙂
Thank you very much for nominating Grandmother Wisdom for the Sunshine Award, NMNPHX! That was very sweet of you. I am glad you didn’t send it in a fortune cookie. LOL! Congratulations on your award, too. Enjoy! 😉
I am with you! I used to love when my hubby would go away on business for short stays. It was like a mini-vacation for me. Shh…don’t tell him I said that! LOL! 🙂

You’re absolutely right. Sometimes I think the best vacation would be if I could stay home by myself for a few days!
