If I had Rock Band in my house when I was a teenager, I would have never left the house. Seriously, I dreamed of having such a thing when I was growing up. The closest I could come, was singing to 45’s and then albums in the living room mirror. Often, the broom was my microphone, and the dog was my audience. Sometimes, I sang in the bathroom mirror because the sound echoed better in the bathroom. I sang “I’ll Be There” by Michael Jackson the best in the bathroom mirror.
I would have had great songs on my version of Rock Band. My repertoire would have included songs by Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Donny Osmond, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and the Eagles. I would have driven my mom crazy singing day and night while I imagined I was a star!
Luckily, I am not too old to still enjoy Rock Band in my living room. Now, I have a real microphone and a kickin’ sound system to play it on. And I don’t have to imagine I am a star….I am a rock star!!Copyright © Jamie Nowinski and Grandmother Wisdom/ Grandmother Musings 2012-2013.
