Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful

Even though Thanksgiving is now a memory, I am still thankful for the turkeys that gave of themselves so that my family and I could have a superb meal.  It wouldn’t be a holiday without them!

Blog Awards

It has been busy around Grandmother’s house the last few weeks with back to school, family visits, and weddings.  There have been days when I just could not go to my computer to post.  Nevertheless, while I was busy, good news was flowing in from Pat Wood  who has nominated Grandmother Musings for the One Lovely Blog Award.  I also received a badge that says 200 wonderful bloggers have been following Grandmother Musings.  I am constantly amazed that anyone, much less 200 followers, would read my musings.  It is humbling and an honor to know that I have reached that many people.

I wish to thank Pat for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award.  Pat’s blog–  PatWoodBlogging is a place for her to write and test out her desire to be a published novelist.  You can read her “gentle” short story, A Fairy Story that has been published in Woman’s Magazine.  She also has a few other stories,  Clean Death, A Taste of Death, and The Scent of Lavender available to her readers to peruse at their leisure.   This superbly written blog is worth a look and a comment.

Rules for the One Lovely Blog Award:

1.   Give credit to the awesome person who nominated you, and post the Award on your site.

2.   Describe 7 things about yourself.

3.   Nominate 15 other bloggers.

7 things about Grandmother Musings…

1.    Wrinkles on my clothes really bother me.  I iron and my new method is to use the  Wrinkle Release spray.  Surprisingly, the spray works on most fabrics and saves me ironing time in the morning.

2.   I never intend on being a gray-haired grandmother.  Why should we be gray?  There are plenty of colorings out there to avoid the gray taking over.

3.   My houseplants are always neglected in the winter. The plants always survive until summer break when I can pay attention to them.

4.   This weekend I went Disk Golfing for the first time.  I liked it, although, I had a score of 25 over par.  I figure I will have to get better if I keep at it. LOL!

5.   I once found a beautiful dress to wear to a wedding for $8.00. I will tell you about it, sometime.

6.   Reading glasses are ugly and I dislike wearing mine. Unfortunately, I seem to need them more every day.

7.   I love to drive!

Today, I am blessed to share three award nominations.  The Beautiful Blogger Award and the Reader Appreciation Award were both given to me by Nizy at Nizy’s Life Compendium.  She shows us that life is one big adventure with so much to discover.  She believes that life is a wonderful journey.  I am happy to say that I am blessed to be included in Nizy’s journey and grateful for her kind nominations. Please visit Nizy’s Life Compendium and leave her a comment or two. You will not be sorry you joined her adventure.

The third award comes to me from sharechair.  She is a tech-goddess, who loves to share her knowledge of technology, especially iPad, iPhone, and Kindle. She likes to check out new things and share them with her readers.  That is how I found her. She shared and I read, and I continue to admire her helpful and informative posts.  Therefore, it is a privilege and honor to accept the Inspiring Blog Award from sharechair.  Please visit sharechair and check out her awesome blog.  Learn a few new things and leave her a comment.

These three awards have similar rules:

Post seven interesting things about yourself.

Nominate 15 other bloggers who you feel deserve the award.

10 Questions about Me

What is a real fear you have?  I am afraid of the dark.  I still sleep with a light on in the kitchen to illuminate the house.  If I wake up in the middle of the night, I want to be able to make out all the furniture in the room and see my hand in front of my face.  When I go on vacation, I drive my family crazy by putting on the bathroom light in hotel rooms.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? As a kid, I wanted to be a nun, a racecar driver, and a rock-star.  Catholic School probably fueled my desire to be a nun, and then as church was replaced by the drag races on Sundays, I decided I wanted to be a racecar driver like my father.  Finally, I wanted to be a famous singer in a Rock and Roll band.

What are some of your hobbies? My hobbies include reading, writing, blogging, Improv, singing, gardening, woodworking, crafting, DIY projects, cooking, and anything that catches my interest.

What hobby would you like to start? I am currently interested in bee-keeping and home canning.  I am reading up on both of these hobbies currently.

If you could tell people anything, what would be the most important thing to say? You can do anything you put your mind to do.  Only YOU limit YOU!

Name one item from your “bucket list”? I would like to go to the Caribbean and enjoy white sandy beaches.

What’s the best prank you’ve pulled off? I once created a treasure hunt for a friend on her birthday.  I left her instructions in her mailbox that took her to 7-eleven to pick a map (it was fun to get the clerk go along with this), the map lead her eventually to a hotel room.  When she opened the door of the room, all of her friends yelled surprise.  It was a great party!

What book are you planning to read next? FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, by E. L. James

Coffee or Tea?  It is most certainly coffee for me.  I need the caffeine morning, noon, and night. I do also enjoy a nice cup of tea here and there.

Lemon Torte or Chocolate Cheesecake? I always choose Chocolate! I like chocolate anything.  Just cover it in chocolate and it will be delicious.
